  • Install Ubuntu MATE

MATE/i3 config

  • Install i3, compton, dconf-editor, and Ulauncher
  • Move i3 configuration to ~/.config/i3/config
  • Add compton and Ulauncher to Startup Applications
  • Change MATE window manager to i3 by running:
$ gsettings set org.mate.session.required-components windowmanager i3
  • In dconf-editor, remove 'filemanager' from /org/mate/desktop/session/required-components-list
